"Argue for your limitations and, sure enough, they're yours." - Richard Bach
Valerie Bullock, MD joined AIM for Wellbeing in 2024 as a fellow in the Integrative Medicine Physician of Excellence program. Before coming to AIM, Dr. Bullock worked as a primary care doctor in community health centers in California for 7 years, where she also practiced labor and delivery. She completed her training in medical acupuncture in 2019 at Helms Medical Institute, and she completed a 2-year fellowship in Integrative Medicine in 2023 through the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM) in La Jolla, CA. Dr. Bullock is excited to offer her skills in acupuncture and integrative medicine while continuing her training in functional medicine.
Dr. Bullock took the scenic route to a career in medicine. Raised in a rural Illinois town on the Mississippi River, she never dreamed she'd become a doctor. She first earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Northern Illinois University, and then taught English as a Peace Corps volunteer in Azerbaijan. During this time it dawned on her that perhaps her love of life in general, and of people and their stories in particular, would make her a good doctor. When she finished her 2-year Peace Corps service, she pursued a post-baccalaureate program in medical sciences at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT, and then earned her medical degree from Ruch Medical College in Chicago in 2013.
Along the way, she undertook her own wellness transformation, which she considers a lifelong pursuit. She believes that we are all works in progress, and that every day is a new opportunity to be the best that we can be!
