Maya’s Way: A Legacy of Healing and Hope

Maya Amoils was a beacon of grace, kindness, and resilience. The beloved daughter of Drs. Steve & Sandi Amoils, sister to Dr. Misha Amoils and Dean Horwitz, aunt to Rowan Horwitz, and partner to Angela Courtin, Maya’s life was defined by her unwavering spirit and deep compassion for others. Even in the face of a devastating illness, she remained a source of light and strength. Despite battling an incurable disease, Maya embodied wellness. She lived fully – eating healthily, exercising daily, and embracing life with determination. Until the final six weeks of her journey, most people around her never even knew she was ill. Her commitment to holistic well-being allowed her to maintain strength, minimize suffering, and inspire those around her.

The Power of Integrative Medicine

Throughout her treatment, Maya turned to integrative medicine to optimize her health and manage the side effects of chemotherapy and surgery. By combining conventional treatments with holistic therapies, she was able to reduce her disease burden and maintain her quality of life. Remarkably, she did not experience hair loss, peripheral neuropathy, or many of the debilitating side effects often associated with chemotherapy.

Continuing Maya’s Legacy

Maya’s Way was created to honor Maya’s spirit of giving by supporting young women facing cancer. This program provides integrative medicine therapies to women under 40, helping them enhance their well-being and navigate treatment with greater strength and comfort. Through the generosity of donors, Maya’s Way empowers patients to experience the same healing benefits that helped Maya throughout her journey. The aim is to allow each patient to live with optimal well-being, despite their illness.
